Patrol Facilitator (Emerald/Diamond)

Patrol Facilitators are the adult leaders of the Emerald/Diamond youth. As the program pivots from the adult-lead Topaz/Sapphire level to the youth-led Emerald/Diamond, the Patrol Facilitators are in the middle of it, working both to advise young ladies as they develop their own leadership and as leaders to guide the young ladies through the middle and high school years.

Our Flock desires adequate Patrol Facilitators to enable breaking into various size small groups, and to have women of a variety of skills and abilities available to the youth. Shared leadership is valued and is important to a successful ministry. We desire teams of women accomplishing the Patrol Facilitator duties.

Patrol Facilitators have the opportunity, but not the responsibility, to serve as the adult event lead for camping trips, service projects, and other outings of the Emerald/Diamond group.

Qualifications

  • Christian woman age 21 or older
  • Registered as an adult leader with Shepherd's Girls
  • Agree to the Shepherd's Church Volunteer Covenant and qualified for service

Core Duties

  • Work collaboratively with the Emerald/Diamond Unit Coordinator to provide needed instruction at weekly meetings.
  • Advise youth on completion of badge work and other program advancement items.
  • Ensure a safely supervised squad meeting, including complying with The Shepherd's Church policies as they relate to youth.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Inform the Unit Coordinator and Ministry Director if unable to attend a regular meeting
  • Pay active attention to Flock calendar and announcements to enable thoughtful communication with patrol members and parents
  • Complete Shepherd's Girls training during first year of service

Timing of Duties

  • Most patrol facilitators are involved in every weekly meeting, although occasional absences are not unusual.
  • Outside of meetings, Patrol Facilitators teaching a lesson would need to take time to prepare and review materials. Some patrol facilitators fulfill out-of-meeting administrative duties for a squad (advancement, membership, communications).
  • Patrol Facilitators often attend Emerald/Diamond campouts, although supervision of these events does not require the entire team of Patrol Facilitators to be present.
